The Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival is one rich in poetic（詩意的）significance.Ancient legends（古代的傳說）that became interwoven with this festival‘s celebration further contribute to the warm regard in which it has always been held by the Chinese people.According to the lunar calendar（農歷），the seventh，eighth，and ninth months constitute the autumn season.Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month，precisely in the middle of this season，when the heat of the summer has given way to cool autumn weather，marked by blue skies and gentle breezes.On this day the moon is at its greatest distance from the earth； at no other time is it so luminous.Then，as the Chinese say，“The moon is perfectly round.” In the villages the heavy work involved in the summer harvest has already been completed but the autumn harvest has not yet arrived.The actual origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival are still very unclear.The earliest records are from the time of the great Han dynasty emperor Wu Di（156-87 B.C.），who initiated celebrations lasting three days，including banquets and “Viewing the Moon” evenings on the Toad Terrace.We know that people during the Jin dynasty（265-420 A.D.）continued the custom of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations，and similar accounts have come down to us from the time of the Tang dynasty.During the Ming dynasty（1368-1644）houses and gardens were decorated with numerous lanterns and the sound of gongs and drums filled the air.（gwdq.com）

Moon cakes came on sale shortly before festival time.In the past，one could get some cakes shaped like pagodas，others like a horse and rider，fish or animals.Still others were decorated with the images of rabbits，flowers，or goddesses.There were a myriad of different fillings available： sugar，melon seeds，almonds，orange peel，sweetened cassia blossom，or bits of ham and preserved beef.The cakes are of the northern and southern styles，but the latter（also called Guangdong-style）are the most popular and are available throughout the country.The round shape of cakes just symbolizes not only the moon but also the unity of the family.Therefore the Mid-Autumn Festival is actually a day for family reunion.

The Mid-Autumn festival As it is well known to all, the Mid-Autumn festival is one of most important traditional festival.There is long history to celebrate this festival.One of defining activity in the Mid-Autumn festival is whole family happily getting together.It is the most meaningful moment about this festival.Every year we celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival on the fifteenth of October according to the lunar calendar.This festival has a long history.It can be traced back to the tang dynasty about the origin.When the emperors began to worship the moon, the tradition continued one generation to generation on from that day.Every year people had to worship the moon.There are two main reasons why ancestors choose that day as Mid-Autumn festival.The first tradition is related to the agriculture.The autumn is harvest season.People harvest various crops in the autumn.In order to express their happiness, ancient people choose that day when the moon is the brightest to celebrate the harvest.In addition, they make the cake by using the harvest crops.It is the origin of moon cake.Actually the moon cake is made up of 5 food.We call it Wu Rene moon cake.It represents the harvest in the coming year.Nowadays there are more than 5 countries celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival in the world.Such as South Korea.Japan.Although it origins in China, we have different ways to celebrate the festival.In different area, even in the different provinces of china.people have various ways to celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival.For the people like me in southwest of China, we generally eat moon cakes and various desserts and fruits.The main activity is that whole families seat together to enjoy the beautiful and bright moon.The moon represents miss and reunion, because on that day the moon is full moon, big and round.We eat the round moon cakes, and fruits is harvested in that season.In a family the old expect everyone to go home on that day and spend the happy time.If anyone can't go home on that day, the old usually miss him/her very much when watches the moon.The Chinese say “on the happy festival, more than ever we think of our relatives far away ”.The relationship is very crucial to the everyone forever.You may miss a person and burst into tears on that day.Everyone knows a well-known myth about the Mid-Autumn festival in the folk, is a fairy named chang e live on the moon and an ordinary person named hour yi live on the earth.We celebrate the festival for missing her very much.Chang e is the wife of hour yi, but for certain reasons she becomes a fairy on the moon.And she misses her husband too.On the fifteenth of October she has a chance to return to the earth, and get together with her husband.It praises the beautiful love and persuade everyone cherish their lovers.In modern times with living standard improving, the way which we celebrate the festival is gradually changing.The atmosphere of the festival is not so intensively.We don't need to celebrate the harvest on that day and make the moon cakes by using our own crops.The moon cake is not only Wu Rene moon cake.Instead, we have various meat or flowers in the moon cake.The various flavor is made to satisfy different needs.We prefer to enjoy the delicious delicacies rather than enjoy the moon cake and watch the moon.We can communicate with each other by the internet or mobile phone.But to the old, they still expect everyone to go home on that day.With the time changes, every day is festival for us.Festival is not so important to express emotion.But as a traditional festival, we will never forget it and we will pass on the Middle-Autumn festival from one generation to another generation.We also expect the coming of the Middle-Autumn festival and enjoy

The Mid－Autumn Festival The Mid－Autumn is a very important Chinese festival． It falls on the 15th day of August． A few days before the festival，everyone in the family will help to make the house clean and beautiful． Lanterns will be hung in front of the house．

On the evening there will be a big family dinner． People who work far away from their homes will try to come back for the union． After dinner，people will light the lanterns which are usually red and round． Children will play with their own toy lanterns happily．

At night the moon is usually round and bright． People can enjoy the moon while eating moon－cakes which are the special food for this festival． They can look back on the past and look forward to the future together． It is said that there was a dragon in the sky． The dragon wanted to swallow up the moon． To protect the frighten the dragon away．

中秋節是中國一個很重要的節日，在八月十五號。在節日來臨的前幾天，家庭中的每一個人都幫著打掃房子，把房子裝扮得漂漂亮亮的，燈籠掛在屋前。

晚上有一頓美餐，離家在外工作的人也要回來團圓。晚飯后，人們點亮燈籠，一般是紅色的圓燈籠。孩子們會高高興興地玩他們的玩具燈籠。

晚上月亮又圓又大，人們在賞月的同時吃著中秋節特別的食品——月餅。人們在一起回顧過去，展望未來。據說天上有一條龍，它要把月亮吞下去。為了保護月亮，孩子們要弄出很大的響動把龍嚇跑。

“Zhong Qiu Jie”, which is also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar.It is a time for family members and loved ones to congregate and enjoy the full moon-an auspicious symbol of abundance, harmony and luck.Adults will usually indulge in fragrant mooncakes of many varieties with a good cup of piping hot Chinese tea, while the little ones run around with their brightly-lit lanterns.“Zhong Qiu Jie” probably began as a harvest festival.The festival was later given a mythological flavour with legends of Chang-E, the beautiful lady in the moon.According to Chinese mythology, the earth once had 10 suns circling over it.One day, all 10 suns appeared together, scorching the earth with their heat.The earth was saved when a strong archer, Hou Yi, succeeded in shooting down 9 of the suns.Yi stole the elixir of life to save the people from his tyrannical rule, but his wife, Chang-E drank it.Thus started the legend of the lady in the moon to whom young Chinese girls would pray at the Mid-Autumn Festival.In the 14th century, the eating of mooncakes at “Zhong Qiu Jie” was given a new significance.The story goes that when Zhu Yuan Zhang was plotting to overthrow the Yuan Dynasty started by the Mongolians, the rebels hid their messages in the Mid-Autumn mooncakes.Zhong Qiu Jie is hence also a commemoration of the overthrow of the Mongolians by the Han people.During the Yuan Dynasty(A.D.1206-1368)China was ruled by the Mongolian people.Leaders from the preceding Sung Dynasty(A.D.960-1279)were unhappy at submitting to foreign rule, and set how to coordinate the rebellion without it being discovered.The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes.Packed into each mooncake was a message with the outline of the attack.On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels successfully attacked and overthrew the government.What followed was the establishment of the Ming Dynasty(A.D.1368-1644).Today, moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this event.Mid-Autumn Day is a traditional festival in China.Almost everyone likes to eat mooncakes on that day.Most families have a dinner together to celebrate the festival.A saying goes, “The moon in your hometown is almost always the brightest and roundest”.Many people who live far away from homes want to go back to have a family reunion.How happy it is to enjoy the moon cakes while watching the full moon with your family members.University, which is the Garden of Eden for students in the eyes of many people, is still doing the big job that is, making students useful to this world.Though Bill Gates can stand up to speak for his own, everyone can’t deny the importance of university.Other people believe that the young can also be educated through other ways.Yes.All we want is knowledge.All we need to do is to improve ourselves.If so, why not devote your most precious and energetic years to this Garden of Eden, in time you will not regret your deed。

From the day the first university was found(Maybe Oxford)，this world begins to define university as the right place where high(top)students should go.First, the professors in university attract us.They just like the Socrates in ancient Greek.Everyone was eager to go where the study is famous.The better the courses are, the better students it produces, the more famous the university will be.Since SAT become prevalent in Chinese mainland, it has attracted many Chinese top students to try on the project.It opens a door for us to U.S.universities: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc。

Second, University shapes us into different roles we play in society in the future.If one has the talent in leading people, it probably begins to appear in University。

While University is perfect in many people’s eyes, it has been critizing(criticized)for a long time.Many complain that they don’t get useful knowledge during the four years, it’s(It is)no better than four blank years except for balls, parties, and meeting different people.But I must say, whenever you have a goal, you will not lose yourself in university,(插入for)it’s a land of peace, but a land of challenge(vanity fair)。

On the other hand, the informal education becomes more and more useful.It furnishes a lot of people’s life, and its knowledge is immediately practiced.I admit its importance, for I myself have seen many

universities like this in England, Germany and many other European.But to spot the stuff, university should not be ignored.It can not be placed(replaced).Because the informal education is just a way for getting knowledge, it’s nothing more, but instant knowledge。

To Sum up, I prefer the university to be more effective and desirable.It is indeed the case。

中秋節，中國的團圓日

在我來到中國以前，我聽說中國有很多的傳統的節日，有元宵節，中秋節，春節等等?？晌也⒉皇呛芮宄闹肋@些節日是在什么時間，是如何慶祝的。直到我來到中國學習之后，我才從老師和中國朋友的幫助下對這些傳統的中國節日有了一些了解。我記得我來到武漢學習之后過得第一個中國節日是中秋節，所以這個節日的印象比較深刻。所以我想講一些關于中秋節的東西。

我記得中秋節那天是九月八號，我的朋友告訴我中秋節是在每年的農歷八月十五號，跟我們所知道的計算日期的方法有一些不一樣。他們還告訴我中秋節起源于中國古代漢朝的時候，是中國除了春節之外最隆重的節日。因為在農歷八月十五這一天，月亮是在一年中最圓的，是團圓的象征，中國的家庭在這一天所有的家人會團聚在一起吃飯，賞月，所以他們又稱中秋節為“團圓節”。我對這個節日很感興趣，所以還去網上查了資料。這讓我對中秋節的認識更多了。原來中秋節還有很多的傳說，其中最有名的是一個叫做“嫦娥”奔月的神話故事。一個叫嫦娥的人偷吃了丈夫后羿的不死仙丹，然后飛到了月亮上與一直兔子生活在一起，所以人們就在中秋節這天祭拜她。除了這些之外，還有很多有名的詩人寫過關于中秋節的詩，比如說，李白寫過“舉頭望明月，低頭思故鄉”等等。

中秋節那天，很多的親朋好友聚在一起，吃月餅，吃團圓飯，賞月，放孔明燈。他們所吃的月餅也是圓形的，也象征著團圓，反映了人們對家人團聚的美好愿望?？酌鳠羰且环N用紙做成的燈籠，點燃之后，它可以飛到天上，隨風飄走，很漂亮。人們在放孔明燈的時候，在孔明燈上寫下自己的愿望，希望自己美好的愿望可以實現，我覺得這些都很有趣。中秋節的晚上，吃過晚飯，有中國的朋友邀請我到操場上和他們一起賞月。很多的人圍在一起坐在地上抬頭看著天上圓而明亮的月亮，吃著月餅，聊著天。他們告訴我，他們原本應該回到家里跟家人一起過這個節日，可是學校離家太遠，他們沒有能夠回去，他們很想家。這讓我也想起了我的家人，雖然在我的國家沒有中秋節，但也有跟中秋節類似的團圓的節日，我也很想回家跟我的爸媽一起過，可惜我離家太遠了。

跟中國的朋友賞完月，吃完月餅，放了孔明燈之后，我看到有人在放煙花，半個天空都被五顏六色的天空照亮，很漂亮。我覺得中秋節是一個很有意義，很有魅力的一個節日，我很喜歡這個節日。
