And the journey to that place of understanding and acceptance has been an interesting one for me, and its given me an insight into the whole notion of self, which I think is worth sharing with you today.We each have a self, but I dont think that were born with one. You know how newborn babies believe theyre part of everything; theyre not separate? Well that fundamental sense of oneness is lost on us very quickly. Its like that initial stage is over oneness: infancy, unformed, primitive. Its no longer valid or real. What is real is separateness, and at some point in early babyhood, the idea of self starts to form.

But in retrospect, the destruction of my self was so repetitive that I started to see a pattern. The self changed, got affected, broken, destroyed, but another one would evolve sometimes stronger, sometimes hateful, sometimes not wanting to be there at all.The self was not constant. And how many timeswould my self have to die before I realized that it was never alive in the first place? I grew up on the coast of England in the 70s. My dad is white from Cornwall, and my mom is black from Zimbabwe. Even the idea of us as a family was challenging to most people. But nature had its wicked way, and brown babies were born. But from about the age of five, I was aware that I didnt fit. I was the black atheist kid in the allwhite Catholic school run by nuns.I was an anomaly, and my self was rooting around for definition and trying to plug in. Because the self likes to fit, to see itself replicated, to belong. That confirms its existence and its importance. And it is important.

熱忱歡迎你們的到來，共同研討交流英語課的教學，提升我市英語學科的備考教學水平。在此，我代表豐收學校全體師生員工，感謝市教科中心對我校的厚愛，給了我校一個和兄弟學校之間相互交流學習共同提高的機會，并請各位多多包涵我校由于自身條件的制約而帶來的諸多服務不周的地方。
同兄弟學校備考措施比較起來，豐收學校算不上優秀，也還存在一定的差距。受市教科中心董老師的委派，要在這里談備考經驗，實有班門弄斧之嫌，因為我們也只是做了一些應該做的工作。下面就我校英語學科在過去的一年里，在備考方面的一些粗淺做法和膚淺認識向在座的各位作一下匯報。
一、細化到人，確立目標。歷年來，豐收學校招收的初中新生中，較優秀的很少，大部分學生的.英語基礎較差，有的甚至幾乎為零，給初中教師的教學增加了不小的阻力和困難。20xx年秋，學校共招生4個班。通過2年的教學，在20xx年春的八年級英語抽考中，獲得了好成績，給了我們莫大的鼓舞，也讓我們看到了希望。升入九年級后，我們仔細地分析學生的現狀，制定出這一年的奮斗目標。確保30人以上優分，80人以上及格，低分控制在每班4人左右，整體位次往前推進2名。一年來，我們一直向這一目標奮進。在荊州市的兩次質檢中獲得了在松滋市近30所初中前三分之一位次的好成績，20xx年中考成績揭曉后，我們認真地比照數據，也都達到了我們期初設定的目標。
二、分類落實，達成目標。縱觀豐收學校的歷年中考備考，老師們都很努力，但效果卻不是很理想。究其原因，主要是尾巴太重，也就是低分多。低分多了，不僅影響低分控制率，還對平均分有很大的影響，更要命的是它直接影響教師的工作熱情和學生的學習積極性，進而牽扯到課堂紀律。一年來，我們不遺余力地打一場殲滅低分備考戰。從以下方面著手：
1、要求學生練字，減少不必要的丟分。得低分的學生大都字跡潦草，辨認不清。根據這一實際，我們要求學生每周練字兩次，每次以作業本一面的量為宜，教師全批全評，一周一小結，一月一總結。通過練字，學生的書寫速度與卷面整潔度都有較大提升。
2、落實基礎知識，提高基本技能。英語成績不穩定的同學都有個通病，基本短語記不牢，句型結構易混淆。針對這一情況，我們把考綱要求的短語詞匯分類匯編成兩套或多套下發，一套供學生閱讀識記，一套供學生檢查過關。此外，我們還要求學生在備考復習中做筆記，做作業，對學生在訓練檢測中涉及到的短語搭配、句型結構方面的錯誤，不僅要重做，還要寫清楚理由。通過這一形式，學生的基礎逐步穩固了，成績逐漸提高了，自信心也就慢慢上來了。
3、改革書面表達訓練方式，提高應試技巧。害怕寫書面表達，是大多數學生的通病。有的確實是基礎差，難以動筆；有的是因為心理上原因，害怕寫錯。對此，我們采取：
①鼓勵學生動筆寫，能寫對一個要點就是勝利。
②指導學生學會自己修改書面表達。每次考試后，將不同層次的學生書面表達3-4篇匯總后印發，找出里面的錯誤進行集中修改訂正，給出分數。修改完畢后，再告知作者，并指出哪些錯誤是可以變通避免的，怎樣做還可以多得1分等，讓他們覺得自己也是行的。
③根據考綱要求的話題，我們精心組織了29篇英語書面表達范文印發給學生背誦，讓他們在考試中套用仿寫。
事實表明，我們的方法很湊效，考試中，書面表達題不動筆的幾乎沒有，最差的學生都能得3-4分，有的學生在考試中甚至優先完成書面表達題。
三、團結協作，提升目標。到了九年級，學生基本定型，偏科現象日益顯現。有的學生對于某一學科的喜好，認真度甚至取決于（他）她對這一學科教師的好感。因而學科教師獲得學生的信任，對于提升本學科的質量有不可輕視的作用。由于諸多方面原因，學生每升一級，學校都要對學生重新洗牌編班。三年下來，教師基本都認識全校的大部分學生。一年里，我們不僅在備考研究中，發揮了團結協作的精神，在鼓舞學生，消除不利于英語學科備考的消極因素方面也是精誠團結、協調合作。因為我們深知，只有班級目標達成了，學科整體目標才能達成。在平時的工作中，不僅關注本班學生，也關愛他班學生，哪怕是一句簡單的鼓勵，一個尋常的問候，都會滋生濃濃的暖意，激勵學生努力奮進。尤其是到了備考沖刺階段，學生思想負擔重，抵觸情緒大，難免會有一些意想不到的情況，正確化解師生矛盾更是事關全局，每每這時，許老師負責女生思想溝通，我負責男生理解配合。正是這種多方位，立體式的合作，學生在上英語課時，一般紀律較好，學英語的干勁和興趣也較足，來勢越來越好。真可謂，教師給學生一個機會，學生還教師一個奇跡。
天道酬勤，有耕耘就有收獲。過去的一年里，豐收學校在英語備考教學上取得的一些成績，和探索出的一些路子，都是上級領導對我校的正確領導和得力指導的結果，也是英語教師不畏困難，默默無聞、辛勤工作汗水的結晶。“雄關漫道真如鐵，而今邁步從頭越”，豐收學校將把今天的成績作為新的起點，借這次教研會的東風，和兄弟學校一道努力，細化常規，強化研究，抓實備考，為全市的英語教學作出新的貢獻。

And that self becomes the vehicle for navigating our social world.But the self is a projection based on other peoples projections. Is it who we really are? Or who we really want to be, or should be?So this whole interaction with self and identity was a very difficult one for me growing up. The self that I attempted to take out into the world was rejected over and over again. And my panic at not having a self that fit, and the confusion that came from my self being rejected, created anxiety, shame and hopelessness, which kind of defined me for a long time.

In each of these accidents heavy casualties were reported – houses were burned down students lost their lives and properties were damaged. Faced with such a chilling fact people keep asking “What on earth results in these repeated tragedies?” A brief survey of them reveals that human factors still prove to be the leading causes. For example three of these fires were caused by the students’ use of electric waterheaters. As students often leave the heaters unattended the risks are rather high should the water in the bottle boil dry while no one is around to turn off the power. In other cases fires were also caused by stoves candles cigarette butts etc. Since most of these disasters could have been prevented if proper precautions had been taken students should be better educated on the importance and measures of fire control. The following three reminders are of particular importance for us students: First learn how to use a fireextinguisher. Second doublecheck candles heaters stoves and other electric appliances and make sure there are no open flames before leaving rooms. Lastly do not smoke in the dorm.

1、建立良好的師生關系，做一名學生喜歡的英語老師
英語教學中，我感受最深的是，學生在成長過程中，需要知識，更需要關愛，關愛是一份情感，也是一份責任，作為英語老師，除了要有精湛的業務水平、敬業的精神、全面的知識，更重要的是在傳道授業解惑時，做到愛生如子。人與人之間的感情是相互的，學生雖小，但他們都有著一顆敏感而真誠的心，只要你真心關愛他們，他們一定會有令你驚喜的`回報。“親其師而信其道”，只有讓學生喜歡你，他們才會信任你，向著你引導的方向發展。
在多年的英語教學中，我學會激勵自卑的學生，點撥后進的學生，暗示自負的學生，發現特殊的學生，服務每一個學生，關愛所有的學生，用心去與學生交流，用愛去撫慰心靈，構建師生平等，關系和諧，共同進步的求知家園。
2、狠抓英語課堂教學，構建“和諧高效、思維對話”型英語課堂
現在正處于應試教育向素質教育轉軌時期，既要求減輕負擔，又要求提高教育質量，這就要求我必須在英語課堂上下功夫，提高英語課堂教學效率，我通常注重以下幾個方面：
1、認真備課
大家都知道，備好課是上好課的前提，備課包括三方面，備教材、備學生、備教法。備教材。我總是提前翻閱各種材料、教師用書、學習資料及以往的相應試題，對于哪些是重點難點，哪些知識點擴展到什么程度，會以什么形式出題，做到心中有數。備學生，就是要了解學生的年齡特點、接受能力、知識儲備情況，這樣可以避免起點太高，學生聽不懂，或起點太低，學生感到無聊的情況。備教法。每一級每個班學生特點各不相同，所以我非常注重仔細研究學生，采取適合學生的方法導入新課，用學生易于掌握的方法講解新知，用學生感興趣的方法組織課堂活動。
2、用激情帶動學生，煥發英語課堂活力
我要求自己在備好課的基礎上，每節英語課都滿懷熱情地走進教室，哪怕身體不適、滿心煩惱，在站上講臺，面向學生的那一刻，我都會面帶笑容，精神抖擻，講課時也是充滿激情，抑揚頓挫。因為快樂的情緒可以傳染，如果你把快樂的情緒、積極地心態傳染給學生，他的英語學習效率可能會成倍增長。
3、關注每個學生，提高課堂凝聚力
講課時，我的視線遍布每個角落，始終用眼光愛撫每個學生，學生的每個動作和眼神都逃不過我的眼睛，并且與學生進行眼神的交流，久而久之，每個學生都會感到老師一直在關注我，從而使他們集中注意力，認真聽講。
4、精講多練，提高英語課堂效率
初中生的注意力集中時間只能持續十五到二十分鐘。如果英語老師是“一張嘴，一支筆，從上課講到下課。”的教學模式，就會出現“老師講得天花亂墜，學生聽得昏昏欲睡”的現象。新課程理念要求我們重視學生在課堂上的主體地位，少講多練。少講并不意味著粗略講解，一帶而過。初中生的接受能力還是有限的，對于重難點的知識，我會根據學生特點細致的講解，多舉例，多操練，講一點，練一點，講練結合，讓大多數學生都能跟上，參與活動。講得太粗太快，學生跟不上，學不會，久而久之，就會慢慢失去學習興趣。俗話說“莊稼齊了才打糧”，只照顧尖子生，不符合素質教育的理念。一定要面向全體學生，才會取得良好的英語教學效果

沙塵暴是我國北方地區春季日益頻繁發生的一種惡劣天氣。雖然我才13歲，但也經歷過多次了。
我想大家對上月發生的沙塵暴記憶猶新，它席卷了11個省，給我國造成了很大的損失。
正如您從電視上看到的，沙塵暴所到之處，狂風卷著黃沙和塵土肆劣橫行，有時候一些大樹都被從中間吹倒了。鳥兒失去他們的家園，孩子們也找不到回家的路，就像到了世界末日。
當沙塵暴發生時，我們的教室也充滿了沙塵。可憐的.老師，盡管已飽受粉筆灰之苦，現在又不得不待在灰塵中。可憐的同學們，他們告訴我簡直都要窒息了!

I want to live in a world where we dont have such low expectations of disabled people that we are congratulated for getting out of bed and remembering our own names in the morning. I want to live in a world where we value genuine achievement for disabled people, and I want to live in a world where a kid in year 11 in a Melbourne high school is not one bit surprised that his new teacher is a wheelchair user. Stepping into the new century environment pollution has become more serious than ever since. There are different kinds of pollution. Such as water pollution air pollution and noise pollution and so on. It seems that we live on a planet which is full of pollution. where all these pollution comes from? To a large extend the environmental destruction is the heavy price that we pay for the rapid development of economy and the growing population. In order to have more fuel people cut down trees and dig more corals. But the growing needs for energy are hardly to meet. Countless private cars on the street the gas stations are short of gasoline even the government has raise the price so many times in order to control the needs of gasoline but it’s still not working. Overusing the natural resources has already affected the ecological balance. However the factories still release the toxic air into the sky and the polluted water into the rivers. People still lack of the conscious of protecting the environment. I think it’s time for all of us to do something. The government should put forward some more strict laws to prevent the environment from being further polluted. And they should let people know more about the importance of environment protection. And we should find the balancebetween the economic growth and environmental protection. Plant more trees in the deserts and stop cutting down the forest. Forbid the factories to pour the waste water into the rivers directly. Encourage people to use public transportations to work. Both government and ordinary people should join hands together to make our home clean and fresh again. Only in this way our earth could be a better place to live in.
