【摘要】中英結合的校園標識語越來越多地出現在學校的每個角落。為了給我們的學生提供一個規范的英語語言環境，本文在總結一般校園標識語語言特征的基礎上，提出了幾種校園標識語的英譯方法。

在全球經濟一體化的背景下，中國在商業、貿易、金融等對外交往日益頻繁；隨著北京奧運會的舉辦和上海世博會的召開，英語作為一門公認的通用語言已經無聲無息地滲透到中國普通百姓的生活當中。例如，街道上你隨處可見到形式多樣、內容廣泛的中英標示語。而學校作為學生學習外語的主要場所，也逐漸意識到要為學生提供更多學習英語的良好氛圍，除了擁有優秀的師資隊伍和豐富的校園文化活動之外，還把校園標識語譯成英語，既向學生宣傳了基本的道德行為規范也為學校營造濃厚的學術氛圍起到積極的促進作用。
一、標示語的內涵和應用范圍
標識語是一種常用的應用文體，它被廣泛的用于現代社會各種公眾場所如：銀行、賓館、旅游景點、影院、圖書館、醫院等；是向人們提出要求、指示、提醒、警告等功能的文字或生動的圖像。標識語的出現是人類社會精神文明進步的表現，不僅為人們出行提供便利也大大的提高了他們的工作效率，標識語已經成為人們生活必不可少的語言。
二、校園標識語的語言特征
目前，大多數校園已逐步將標識語雙語化，特別是在高校中英結合的校園標識語成為一道獨特的風景線，讓外籍教師能準確的了解學校信息，又為學生如何在實際語境中運用英語樹立良好的榜樣。校園標識語和其他公共場所的標識語有所不同，使用的對象和語境的特殊性使得校園標識語逐步形成了自己獨特的語言特征。
1.語言使用準確、規范。這完全是由校園的實際語境決定的。學校本來就是一個提倡使用規范語言的地方，任何的翻譯或拼寫的錯誤都要避免。例如：教師休息室是staff room 或者common room而不是teacher’s preparing room., 教研室teaching and research room.應用于替代JiaoYan Shi。2.經常出現俚語、諺語和口號。為了鼓勵學生養成勤奮學習，積極進取的精神風貌，學校標識語常選用一些富有哲理、催人上進的經典格言。在大一年級教室里就出現了“好的開始是成功的一半”（Well begun, half done!）、“千里之行始于足下”（A thousand-li journey begins with the first step.），還有提倡學生愛祖國、愛人民、愛勞動、愛科學、愛護公物的“五愛” 口號（Love the motherland, the people, labor, and science and take good care of public property.）。讓學生覺得熟悉又通俗易懂。
3．較少使用祈使句，多用比喻、擬人等修辭寫法，引起學生的共鳴。學生是學校的主體，如果總使用祈使句告誡學生，勢必會引起大家的反感。就像“請勿踐踏草地！”（Please keep off the grass!）在其他場合是適合的，然而在學校的特殊語境下可以婉轉的表達為“小草有生命，腳下請留情”（Little grass has life, please watch your step.）或者“小草微微笑，請您走便道”（Little grass is smiling slightly.Please walk on the pavement.）。與祈使句生硬的語氣相比，校園標識語采用擬人的寫法賦予事物以生命，縮短了學生與大自然間的距離，讓人產生憐憫而不忍破壞環境，效果更好。
三、校園標識語的翻譯方法
鑒于校園標識語的作用日益突出，會出現越來越多英譯的校園標識語。這個任務主要落到了在校教師和學生的身上。但是不少標識語的英譯出現單詞拼寫錯誤、歪曲原義、無視中外文化差異或是直譯成中式英語等問題，不但引起笑話也誤導了學生。為了使校園標識語英譯能準確表達出原義的內涵又不失幽默感和文化氣息，在此有必要探討校園標識語英譯的幾種方法。
1．盡量使用在英語國家約定俗成的譯文。其實，在英國、美國等英語為母語的國家早就形成了一批固定的標識語，多用于要求、警告的語氣。在圖書館我們可以看到“保持安靜”（Keep silence!）、教室里出現“此處不準吃食物”（No food consumed in this area!）、教學樓走道有“嚴禁攀爬”（No climbing!）。此外，當翻譯學校名或教師職稱時，也可廣泛使用英語國家的源來詞。例如：師范大學（normal university）、工業大學(polytechnical university)、音樂學院(conservatory of music)、中等專業學校（secondary specialized school）,教師包括如教務長（dean of studies）、講師（lecturer）、助教（assistant）、輔導員（assistant for political and ideological work）。它們都符合英語國家的習慣，外籍人士最為熟悉和了解。
2．要準確翻譯標識語關鍵在于理解，只有充分理解標識語的漢語意義和了解英語國家的習慣，才能盡量避免引起歧異和笑話。在北京曾經出現過“小心滑倒(Caution ,slippery!/Caution, wet floor!)”被譯成了 “要小心的滑一跤”（Please take care to slip down）的現象，讓外國人不知所云，更別談理解其本意了。其實，有時不需逐字逐句翻譯，只要用簡單直譯就能準確表達。學生常說“學校是我家，衛生靠大家。”可譯成（Keep our school clean!），簡潔明了。
3．當標識語英譯時，選擇的詞匯要考慮到使用對象和特殊語境的限制。學校食堂向學生提倡“請節約糧食”（Please economize food supplies），句中的economize是指save money, time, resources/spend less than before 即“節省金錢、時間、資源等，減少花費。顯然，這句標識語希望學生不要浪費糧食，而不是讓學生減少進食，所以可選擇Please save food 較為適合（雷錦，2006）。選詞還需考慮語句當中的詞性搭配，簡單譯文甚至可使用一個名詞也能作為標識語，如入口處（Entrance）、體育館（Gymnasium）。但遇到句子就容易要仔細觀察上下句，杜絕詞性混亂。上面提到過的“小心路滑”的譯文To take notice of safe;The slippery are very crafty.中的safe一般可用作形容詞指“安全的”或者名詞指“保險箱、冷藏箱”，在句子中明顯需要的是指“安全”含義的名詞safety而不是指包含“保險箱、冷藏箱”的名詞safe。其次，crafty專指某人狡猾、詭計多端、善于騙人，而被用來說明地面濕滑，真是讓人啼笑皆非。
4．由于中國和英語國家歷史背景發展的不同，各自形成了與眾不同的語言和文化，因此我們在英譯時難以忽視中英文化差異，只單純追求翻譯出字面意思，只會適得其反。把教師休息室譯成Teacher’s restroom 在英語國家人看來的意思是“教師的廁所”，因為restroom 在英語文化中特指洗手間或廁所。正確的譯文即為staff room/common room或者Teacher lounges。（楊麗波，夏望秋，2007）
隨著中國國際地位的提升，我們將需要更多了解中外文化的英語人才。優美、干凈的校園為我們學生提供了優越的學習環境，更重要的是創造內容健康豐富形式多樣的校園文化才是培養優秀人才的沃土。標識語作為校園文化展示的小窗口，需要你我不斷“凈化”，才能為我們的莘莘學子提供規范準確的語言環境。

教育要面向21世紀。教育現代化工程需要培養高素質創造型人才，改革強化外語教學是加強學生外語素質已經成為21世紀人才的必需的工作，如何促進外語教學，提高人才的素質，是當前學校教學中的一個重要工程。
探索創設外語文化氛圍，形成外語學習環境，增強外語學習興趣，提高外語聽說讀寫能力，在第二課堂領域既創設語言實踐環境，又開展多種適合學生心理的生理特點的活動，從多角度、全方位培養學生英語語言素質從而為現代人才培養開辟更科學更現代的教學環境。
現代外語教學論認為，英語教學的根本目的是使學生能以英語為交際工具，從而達到交際的目的。根據交際性英語教學原則，英語教學要為學生設置運用語言的環境，使學生通過大量的交際性活動總結和掌握語言的規律，并在交際活動中去實踐，從而培養交際能力。
但是課堂容量畢竟有限，要在四十五分鐘內讓五、六十個學生人人都能充分交際，在下意識中習得語言幾乎很難；其次，在我國的中考體制未作改變的前提下，要教師們完全放棄“分數”的顧慮而潛心培養學生的“交際”能力，也是件很難的事情，畢竟學生的考試成績與教師的前途和發展有著千絲萬縷的聯系。校園英語氛圍是指導學校校園內所營造的英語外在環境，學習條件、學習活動特別是第二課堂的英語興趣活動，凡是有利于鞏固研究提高學習外語基本技能的實踐，打破課堂界線，提高學習興趣的一切活動。學生的英語素質是指相應年齡段學生應具備的水平和能力，并且認定語言素質是重要素質之一，英語素質更是現代人才的必備之條件。
怎樣才能既培養學生的英語學習興趣，完成教學任務，獲得好的教學效果，又能不負學生的前途發展，培養他們的英語交際能力呢？筆者通過近幾年的教學實踐發現，把我們的課堂交際活動延伸到課外，擴展到校園的每一個角落，精心組織好課外英語學習活動，營造一種濃厚的英語學習氛圍，不失為一種既能真正培養學生的交際能力，又能豐富活躍校園生活的好方法。
一、精心布置校園，讓學生時刻感受英語
一個良好的英語學習氛圍不僅能激起人們說英語的欲望，還能培養人們用英語思維交際的習慣。我校是一所創辦只有兩年多的實驗中學，由于學校領導對英語教學的重視，從創辦伊始，我們就注意英語學習氛圍的營造：
1、讓英語遍及校園的每個角落。校園是學生學習、生活的主要場所，為了營造一種濃厚英語學習氛圍，我們對學校的所有指示牌和警句牌都用英漢雙語書寫，指示牌如：Teachers’Office(教師辦公室)；Ladies’Restroom(女廁所)等。警句牌如：I’m sleeping.Let me alone.(小草正在睡覺，請勿打擾);The world is like a mirror.Frown at it and it frowns at you.Smile and it smiles too.(世界如一面鏡子。皺眉視之，它也皺眉看你；笑著對它，它也笑著看你——H.L塞繆爾)。發揚福根精神，吃苦奮斗成功奉獻 Developing fugen’s spirit , bearing hardships ,struggling succeeding offering
做現代人，做未來人，做世界人 Become a modern person Become a futureoriented person Become an international person 以吃苦為樂 Regard bearing as happiness以奮斗為樂 Regard striving as happiness以成功為樂 Regard succeeding as happiness以奉獻為樂 Regard offering as happiness
這些標志牌既能給學生增加許多無意間習得英語的機會，又能讓學生時刻感受到英語的存在與重要。
2、用英語裝點每間教室
學生每天的大部分時間是在教室里度過的，良好的學習氛圍會不知不覺帶動每個學生的學習熱情，營造教室的英語學習氛圍對學生的影響至關重要。
首先，教室兩邊墻壁上，名人警句可用英漢雙語書寫，并經常更換。
第二，利用教室后面的黑板報創設英語園地，同時還可要求學生每隔一段時期設計一期純英語版黑板報，讓學生在感受到母語博大精深的同時也隨時領略英語的無窮樂趣。
第三，在教室前黑板上創設英語“自留地”。黑板是學生在教室里視線停留最多的地方，要充分利用這塊寶地，讓學生隨時感受英語。黑板上都有兩個欄目：一日課程安排和每日一句名言。筆者便把這兩欄作為英語“自留地”，要求學生用英語書寫，然后再在黑板左上角加一欄：由值日生用英語書寫當天的日期、星期和天氣。這樣黑板上的三塊“自留地”所占面積不大，不影響教學，憑它們的實用和美觀對學生的渲染作用可不小。
3、讓校園的早晨一片朗朗讀書聲
朗讀是學習英語、培養語感的一個很重要的途徑，非母語人員學習外語就必須多朗讀、多模仿來糾正語音，獲得語感。精心組織好學生的早讀對學生的英語學習有著至關重要的作用。要組織好早讀首先要讓學生明確目標，規定一定任務，讓學生有事可做；然后教師要注意方法指導，指導學生用正確的語音、語調、停頓方式來朗讀；最后還要對學生進行適當評價，讓學生知道自己的進步、自己的不足和努力的方向。清晨朗朗的讀書聲不僅能讓學生鞏固知識、培養語感、訓練口語，也是校園英語氛圍的一個重要組成部分。
二、精心組織校園英語活動，培養學生“聽”“說”能力。由于社會文化環境不同，我們的學生學習英語不可能象以英語為母語的學習者那樣獲得足夠的語言刺激并內化成語言規則進而自然習得英語，但是我們可以盡可能多地為學生提供條件，創設語言習得環境，讓學生逐漸視英語為生活的一部分，不由自主地甚至自然而然地用英語交際，為此，教師可以精心組織校園英語活動，培養學生的“聽”“說”能力。
1、組織校園英語廣播站 學生最感興趣的事情莫過于發生在自己本人、本班及周圍的事。英語廣播站播出的每期內容里不僅有每個班級選送的優秀稿件；有他們能聽懂的英語小新聞；有對最受他們歡迎的老師、同學的采訪；還有他們到處找尋的與課文故事有關的英文歌曲等。每周有這樣的節目，學生們都會興趣盎然地一聽到底，并且會努力爭取下期有自己的節目，這樣會極大地調動每一個學生的參與熱情，培養他們的“聽”“說”“寫”的能力。
2、創設“英語角”
要培養學生的交際能力就要為他們多提供語言實踐的機會，創設“英語角”就能為學生提供極好的“身臨其境”的英語交流機會。要使“英語角”體現它的最佳價值，并能長期穩定地發揮其作用，每次活動前要精心策劃好本次活動的內容、形式、輔助工具（如音像器材、卡片、獎品等），要預先考慮學生可能會遇到的困難及解決辦法；也要考慮到途中可能導致冷場的因素及相應對策，要有新穎的內容，靈活多樣的組織形式；還要有能激發學生積極性的評價方式。要使每次活動都高潮迭起，有始有終，還依賴于教師的組織調控。對于在初中生中組織“英語角”活動，教師的參與非常重要，學生喜歡和他們的老師（尤其是外教）交流，并且在很大程度上他們還依賴他們的教師，“英語角”活動為培養學生的用英語思維能力和口語交際能力，起了極為重要的作用。濃厚的英語氛圍和豐富多彩的校園英語活動極大地提高了我校學生的口語水平，學生樂于用英語交流，并且相當一部分還說得很地道。本期我校聘請的外教在給幾個班級上完一次口語課后也對學生們的口語水平給予了極高的評價，三、綜合利用學校資源與環境，培養學生“讀”“寫”能力。現代外語交際教學法認為，學生習得語言的順序是“聽”“說”領先，“讀”“寫”跟上。只有給予學生足夠的語言輸入（Imput），才可能有他們高質量的輸出（Output）。在為學生營造濃厚的“聽”“說”英語氛圍的同時，也要為他提供能培養他們“讀”“寫”能力的園地。
1、充分利用學校閱覽室和校園網絡資源，培養學生課外閱讀能力
閱讀是學生獲取語言信息的主要途徑之一。為了讓學生充分利用好這一語言輸入的重要途徑，筆者認為可充分利用學校閱覽室和校園網絡資源，讓學生開展大量的課外閱讀，培養他們的閱讀能力，要精選閱讀材料，規定閱讀數量。熟悉學校閱覽室和校園網絡上適合學生閱讀的書目或內容，難度適宜的報刊和書籍。
掌握閱讀策略是培養學生自主閱讀能力的關鍵，為了提高學生課外閱讀的速度和效率，要指導學生養成良好的閱讀習慣，要指導學生進行限時閱讀，以提高閱讀速度；還要幫助學生總結閱讀技巧，如找關鍵詞、找主題句、掠讀、略讀等，鼓勵學生寫讀書筆記。為了督促每一位學生都認真完成閱讀任務并達到預期的效果，就要定期對學生的課外閱讀進行檢查和評價。
2、精心組織課外寫作訓練，培養學生寫作能力。
英語寫作是英語學習較高階段的語言輸出，是學生綜合運用能力中必不可少的一種，要培養學生的寫作能力，仍然可借助于具有濃厚英語氣氛的校園。
1）利用英語廣播播出學生習作，激起寫作熱情。英語廣播站是學生英語習作最直接的發表園地。
3）指導學生出好英語墻報。一塊高質量的英語墻報能體現學生的綜合素質和能力，從設計到內容的選定到書寫無一不是學生綜合能力的體現，因為墻報的周期性短，一般所有的學生都有機會參與，是培養學生寫作能力的好園地。
3.在戶外活動中創設環境，使訓練更加交際化。學生學英語的目的就是為了更好地運用語言于實際的交際之中。戶外活動與大自然接觸，戶外活動使同學們和教師進入實際背景之中，同學們在這里自由自在地去提問，去討論，不斷地練習交往的技能，對學生表達來說有很好的作用。教師要把大自然看作是一本活教材，作為教育學生的大課堂，充分利用周圍環境，使表達更加交際化。4．我校每年舉辦一次校園文體藝術節。其中英語活動是一大亮點。活動如：英語歌曲演唱，英語詩歌朗誦，英語劇本表演等。深受老師和同學們的喜愛。還有對各辦公室、教室、專業課室進行英語門牌補充，對走廊部分位置、洗手間、多功能教室等添加英語標示，在各走廊電源開關處做英語短文、幽默、名人名言裝飾，多方面營造英語氛圍；每周兩個時段進行英語廣播；英語原版影片欣賞活動，英語原版動畫片欣賞活動；英語手抄報、班報大賽，每年級學生各布置一個如購物、動物園、游樂場、家庭等的英語場景，繼續進行英語歌曲、小韻文、名人名言、小故事的英語課教學；（6）開展“大家說英語”活動，讓英語走進家庭，社區，讓更多的人了解英語，學習英語，運用英語
5．在活動中創設環境，增強訓練力度。在活動中學生能自由自在地用不同方式與周圍學生交往，促進語言能力的發展。教師在組織活動時，各種對話、角色安排，盡量多用英語引導學生積極主動地進行交流，激發他們參與英語活動以及運用英語交際動機，在學生活動的起勁的時候,教師點撥用英語怎么說，就這樣，讓學生參與活動的興致特別高，并且在輕松愉快的氣氛中參與過程，學會了新的句子和單詞，留下了很深的印象。孩子在活動中體驗到了成功的愉悅，這種愉悅感使學生對英語產生了無止境的渴求，更有利學生的能力的提高。四．英語小活動總結
（一）教唱英語歌曲
唱歌能陶冶人的情操，優美的旋律能給人帶來歡樂，絕大多數學生喜歡唱歌。而英語歌曲，他們更覺新鮮、有趣。因此，學生常常是積極地主動地請老師教，自己自覺地練。我曾在一期內教了“Good Morning to you”.“Fly kite”等近20首歌曲，由于學生對英文歌曲特別感興趣，他們便經常唱，反復唱。這樣，他們的在體驗音樂美感的同時，不自覺地復習或學習了一些單詞、句型，從而提高了他們記憶能力和英語學習的興趣。比賽既為選手們提供了一次展現自我的機會，又給觀看的同學帶來了一次愉悅的精神享受，增強了同學們對外文歌曲的興趣，提高了同學們對外文歌曲的欣賞力。
（二）這一學期的電影在內容上比以前更加豐富，類別上也分得更加詳細具體。主要放映的影片有：家庭溫馨系列：《二手獅王》，《三代同堂》，《火柴人》。經典名著改編：《傲慢與偏見》，《蝴蝶夢》。戰爭背景題材：《阿甘正傳》，《英國病人》，《鋼琴戰曲》。喜劇類：《我的超級希臘婚禮》，《超級插班生》。嚴肅題材：《沉默的羔羊》，《紫色》。愛情經典：《西雅圖不眠夜》。剖析人性：《飛越瘋人院》，《電話亭》 電影大餐豐富了同學們的課余生活，開闊了同學們的視野，有利于他們在增長見識的同時反思自我、提高自我。同時，原聲電影的放映對于提高英語聽力，增強對外國文化的理解有很大的促進作用，使同學們更深刻的感受英語聽說的魅力，提高學習英語的興趣，從而在英語學習中投入更多的努力和熱忱。這正是我們這個活動的意義所在。
（三）英語口頭表達，歷來是學生英語學習的一個不可缺少的環節，是檢測一個學生英語綜合水平的試金石。為此，我們在每年舉辦一屆陳毅中學文體藝術節中舉辦英語朗誦演講比賽，作為組織者，我們熱切地希望全體學子積極報名參加這樣一個難得的學習鍛煉自己英語口頭表達能力的機會，使自己的英語學習達到一個更加理想的彼岸。
（四）、組織英語競賽活動
想讓別人知道自己的長處，這是正常人的普遍心理，這一點在中學生言行中表現得尤為突出。據此，我組織了以年級為單位的英語競賽活動，如英語書法比賽、口語比賽、聽力比賽、英語單詞的聽寫、默寫比賽、英語書面表達比賽等，并組織評委認真評定，評出集體獎和個人獎，并給予物質和精神獎勵，對獲得全年級前三名的學生，我們還以賀信的形式向學生家長表示祝賀，這極大地鼓勵了學生學習外語的積極性。
（五）、組織地編寫活動
培養學生的編寫能力對學生今后的學習和工作將產生重大的積極影響。我每個年級都組織了一個編寫小組，每小組3人，要求每小組每兩周出一次墻報，每一月出一張油印報，每一期出兩次英語復習資料。這些學生熱情高，均能按時、按質、按量完成任務，其他學生寧可不讀其他報刊，但學生編的卻要期期讀、認真讀，這就豐富了外語學習的形式。
（六）、營造英語語言氛圍
為了向學生創設英語語言環境，老師除了在課堂上盡力用英語組織教學外，我們還做了如下探索。首先，英語教師之間交流要用英語，并鼓勵年級較高的學生課后要多使用英語；第二，學校花園為英語角落，每逢周五晚英語教師和各班英語愛好者自覺相聚于此，用英語交流思想，交流學習；第三，充分利用校廣播定時播放英語廣播講座或英語教學磁帶，這種語言環境的營造使學生體會到學英語有趣，學英語有用，英語容易學。
（七）開展英語研究性學習課程。學校根據大綱要求，專門開設英語研究性學習課程，每學期初，通過教研，制定本學期的研究課題，然后分課時讓學生去研究完成，一學期進行一次總結評比，讓學生從中受益非淺。
（八）進行英語手抄報比賽。不同年級根據所學知識，學生自己做手抄報，也可以用電腦制作，鍛煉學生的動腦和動手能力，體現學生知識的運用能力，并驚醒評比，優秀的張貼在學校手抄報專欄，或班內墻報。
（九）英語班內環境布置。每班根據自己班內實際，布置與英語有關的形式，發揮學生的創造力，想象力，體現英語活動式教學的特色。如英語角。
（十）英語課本劇表演比賽，每個年級根據已學習的課本內容，自編自演，（十一）、指導學生課外閱讀
閱讀分精讀和泛讀，我們把課文作為精讀教材，在課堂上進行。每教完一個單元后，我又從《中小學外語教學》、《中學生英語讀寫》等刊物選出一至二篇同步閱讀材料，作為泛讀在課外進行，這種文章的長度和深淺程度與相應課文相似，適應學生的實際水平，有時，還可向學生推薦一些英語簡易讀物，這樣就大大增強了學生的閱讀量
（十二）計算機教學，英語教學是現代人才培養必不可少的兩個重要方面，是現代化教育不可分割的重要部分。重視信息課程，重視培養學生外語素質，是走向現代化教學的必由之路。通過計算機輔助英語教學的嘗試，使學生學會收集信息，處理信息初步解決各種問題的能力，同時讓學生深切感受到學好英語可以更有利于掌握信息技術，并去尋求更廣泛的信息來源，而信息技術又輔助英語教學的深入。實現五機一幕（微機、VCD機、錄像機、錄昔機、幻燈機）推進信息技術運用，實現學校教育信息化，英語教學特色化，從而走向教育現代化為培養和造就符合現代化建設所需要的人才。
總之，精心創設校園英語氛圍，創造良好的語言學習環境，讓學生視英語為生活的一部分，處處感受英語，自然地學習英語，交流英語，養成良好的語言學習習慣，在實際生活中培養用英語交際的能力。
