CHINESE
EDUCATION
Written by Tian Chu Qi
Good morning, everyone!I’m very glad to give you this speech.Today ’s topic is China. Then I want to say something about us-Chinese students,Chinese teachers and Chinese schools. In total, today,my topic is Chinese education that many people call examination oriented education. So,what’s the difference between Chinese education and foreign education? Such as class size, teaching method, exercise and exam, they are all different. But I think the biggest one is the educational idea. The West pay more attention to cultivating the kid’s individuality. But in china, the kids are gowning in the high pressure environment.Because of that ,many people query Chinese education.Under these circumstances,I want to clarify a few things.Firstly,in China, cooperation is more important than personality. Many people think there are too many students in China in one class. But I want to say,China is a big country. It’s not only in location, but also in population. The education pressure of Chinese government can’t be compared with the West’s.So,as a Chinese student, devoting yourself to study group is most important. It doesn’t mean you can’t have your own things, but let you integrate into the collective and find the right place for yourself to show your abilities.Secondly, the fair competition of college entrance examination system will give the students who are going to enter the society a best lesson. Many people think the students’ competition in China is too cruel. The students are too young and the pressure is too heavy. But integrating into the work environment, also needs compressive capacity. And this can’t get free when we reach a certain age,but developing in the high pressure environment. The college entrance examination may be cruel, but at least it’s fair. You may feel tired or stressed, but at least you have hope to change destiny by knowledge.so,face it and adapt to it.The last but not the least, now,China isn’t strong enough,so the students must make more efforts to achieve the Chinese Dream. The international competition of a new generation depends on the teenagers of different countries. The future is ours and its also our country’s.The sweat of effort will be the best nourishment to irrigate our motherland.Chinese education isn’t the tough infliction by the Chinese government, but the requirement of modern society and the essential experience to live in the country of 1400000000 population. If you want to know China, then you must know Chinese education and through it to see the progress of the modern society of China.

Prepared Speech
Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen, good morning.First of all, let me take this chance to present to you a set of data that I hope won't bore you since the source is China Daily.China's tourism revenue last year reached 500 billion RMB, an increase of 10.5 percent from the year before, and comprised more than 5% of China's GDP.According to experts, this number will grow to 8% in the coming ten years and more than 40 million jobs will be created. As a student majoring in economics, I can't be more sensitive to the essential meanings behind these numbers. They mean progress, prosperity, employment and stability. However, as a conscientious Chinese and citizen of the world, I can't help but care more about the losses incurred in this transaction, by which I mean the disturbing images of environmental destruction, which leads to ecological crisis. The global environment has changed for the worse during the past few years, and tourism is partly to blame.Take China for example, in order to attract tourists, many unknown places are built into resorts.Forests are cleared, prairies trampled, rivers and lakes 6)contaminated, wild animals are driven away, plants jeopardized and secluded populations disturbed. If this seems too remote and abstract, my own traveling experience may speak louder here.Last year I took a tour around Emei Mountain in Sichuan Province.Like most tourists, I was eager to embrace nature and enjoy its beauty. However, as soon as I got on the bus, the stench of gasoline and the noise of the engine tainted my appreciation of the wonderful scenery and the tranquility of the country road. When we finally arrived, what I saw was not a beautiful landscape but crowds of people;what I heard was not the melodious singing of birds, but yelling and bargaining from the gift shops;what I smelled was not the fresh mountain air, but stinking suffocating smoke coming out of small dirty restaurants. Moreover, I could not understand why the lovely monkeys living there had to take photos with tourists all day;why the beautiful butterflies and flowers had become lifeless samples in shop windows;why the strongest impressions I had was trash scattered everywhere on the ground. However, this is not the end of the story. Before I left Emei, I met a group of kids in an ecotourism program with the slogan: “Experiencing, Learning and Protecting.” When I saw their young hands picking up trash from the ground, when I felt their enjoyment and harmonious relationship with the animals, when I found their purest eyes filled with passion and love for nature, I realized to my
great satisfaction that there doesn't have to be a tradeoff between tourism and ecology, because deep within us is an inclination toward natural beauty and a desire to protect it.Yes, environmental problems will eventually ease with the advancement of science and technology and improvement of our management system. However, an increase of ecological education and hands-on environmental involvement of our fellow citizens will do even better. To realize this, the best way for us lies in tourism itself because nothing other than nature can teach us how to love and cherish our sweetest home.At the end of my speech, please let me quote Bob Dylan:
How many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man?
How many times must a man look up before he can see the sky?
How many years can a mountain exist before it's washed to the sea?
The answer, my friend, is not in the wind-the answer is ours!Thank you!

Don’t put off till tomorrow what should be done today.
When we were at young age, we have been told that never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. However, there are still many people who like putting off the things they should do today until tomorrow. They have no plans for their work and their time.As a result, they will not accomplish their goals in the end.
We know that “Time is money”.“Time is life.” when time is gone, it will never return. This is the reason why we must value time. And it is a pity that there are a lot of people who don’t know the importance of time. And I was ever one of them.
I was not able to go to school in time because of getting up late.I was punished by the teacher because I didn’t finish my homework on time.I was blamed by my friends because I was always late for our date.I wasted lots of time on shopping、watching TV and chatting.I ever thought that I can catch the time.In fact, nobody can catch the time.
In a word, we should get into the good habit of saving time.Don’t put off what can be done today until tomorrow.Laziness will not only bring us troubles, but also let us miss lots of opportunity for success.
That’s all.Thank you for listening.

演講稿 from walls to bridges im studying in a city famous for its walls.all visitors to my city are amazed by the imposing sight of the city walls, silhouetted by the setting sun with gold and shining lines.with old, cracked bricks patched with lichen, the walls are weather-beaten guards, standing still for centuries in protecting the city.our ancestors liked to build walls.they built walls in beijing, xian, nanjing and many other cities, and they built the great wall, which snakes through half of our country.they built walls to ward off enemies and evil spirits.this tradition has been maintained to this day as we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public.i grew up at the foot of the city walls, and ive loved them since my childhood.for a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world.my perception, however, changed after a hiking trip to the eastern suburbs, a scenic area of my city.my classmates and i were walking with some international students.as we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by taller and taller trees, which formed a huge canopy above our heads.suddenly an international student asked me, where is the entrance to the eastern suburbs? were already in the eastern suburbs, i replied.he seemed taken aback, i thought you chinese have walls for everything.his remark set off a heated debate.at one point, he likened our walled cities to jails, while i insisted that the eastern suburbs were one of the many places in china that had no walls.that debate had no winners, but i did learn a lot from this international student.for instance, he told me that universities like oxford and cambridge were not surrounded by walls;the campuses were just part of the cities.i have to admit that we do have many walls in china, and as we are developing our country, we must carefully examine them, whether they are physical or intangible.we will keep some walls but tear down those that impede chinas篇二:3-5分鐘英語演講稿(30篇)最好英語演講稿匯總3——5分鐘英語演講稿匯總(30篇)
六、周怡雪,19歲,上海 i believe in our future honorable judges, fellow students: good afternoon!recently, ther is a heated debate in our society.the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places.but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country? the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades;and we neglect the need for character cultivation.but again, the cynics are wrong.we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth.last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives.we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country.i believe in all my fellow classmates.though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish.i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities.we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place.i believe in our future.
17 change the ingredients of your life
change the ingredients of your life if kindness is added to a strange you will have a friend;but if hostility is added, you will have an enemy.if love is added to a pile of red bricks you will have a home, but if hatred is add to those bricks , you will have an concentration camp.so my dear friend, if faith, hope, love, endurance are added to your life, you will find the confidence to conquer your limitation and embrace new challenges.and hopefully with my speech included, you will have a fantastic speech contest.

十六、楊穎,21歲,海南 when two cultures meet, there may be things in one culture, which do not fit into the tradition of the other.when this happens, we need to learn to understand and respect the customs of another culture.then there are certain things some people may not like.to this, i will say, if you do not like it, please try to tolerate it.to learn to tolerate what you personally don’t like is a great virtue at a time when different cultures mix and merge.before us, there are two rivers, eastern and western cultures.at present, they may run in different courses.but eventually, they will converge into the vast sea of human culture.right now, i can see peoples of eastern and western cultures, standing side by side, singing the olympic theme song: we are hand in hand, heart to heart, together we will shape a beautiful tomorrow!thank you!
十五、黃揚,21,福建 farewell, indifference who was the most well-known figure in china last month? it’s ma jiajue—the college student who murdered 4 of his roommates.many people attributed his crime to his poverty and deficient education.in my opinion, his crime also has much to do with his classmates’ indifference.indifference is a terrible disease in today’s colleges and the whole society.it’s not rare that two students who have studied together for 4 years have never spoken to each other.it’s not rare that a student who has been absent from class for several days is not noticed at all.it’s also not rare that a student who has severe psychological problems is not cared about at all.some people may say ‘what the students with psychological problems like ma jiajue need is not care but psychotherapy.” however, when people are ill, what they need most is not only medical treatment, but also care from people around them.every smile and every caring word will bring sunshine to their life.篇三:英語演講比賽 演講稿(中英版)topic——tourism and ecology: learning through travel 第八屆“21世紀杯”全國英語演講比賽冠軍——顧秋蓓 a scene to remember gu qiubei shanghai international studies university advisor: gong longsheng good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.today i would like to begin with a story.下午好,各位先生女士們 there was once a physical therapist who traveled all the way from america to africa to do a census about mountain gorillas.these gorillas are a main attraction to tourists from all over the world;this put them severely under threat of poaching and being put into the zoo.she went there out of curiosity, but what she saw strengthened her determination to devote her whole life to fighting for those beautiful creatures.she witnessed a scene, a scene taking us to a place we never imaged weve ever been, where in the very depth of the african rainforest, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterflies, the mother gorillas cuddled their babies. yes, thats a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called gorillas in the mist, based on a true story of mrs.dian fossey, who spent most of bet lifetime in rwanda to protect the ecoenvironment there until the very end of her life. to me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our ecoenvironment. 1 / 3 deforestation to heat lodges is devastating nepal.oil spills from tourist boats are polluting antarctica.tribal people are forsaking their native music and dress to listen to u2 on walkman and wear nike and reeboks. all these appalling(令人震驚的)facts have brought us to the realization that we can no longer stand by and do nothing, because the very thought of it has been eroding(侵蝕)our resources.encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in the spotlight, which is why the united nations has made 2002 the year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring to the worlds attention the benefits of tourism, but also its capacity to destroy our ecoenvironment. because they care.because they still want their mother nature back.because they know it still belongs to them. the other night, as l saw the moon linger over the land and before it was sent into the invisible, my mind was filled with songs.i found myself humming softly, not to the music, but to some-thing else, someplace else.a place remembered, a place untouched, a field of grass where no one seem to have been except the deer. 2 / 3 and all those unforgettable scenes strengthened the feeling that its lime for us to do
and no matter who we are, what we do and where we go, in our mind, theres always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it. thank you very much.

crossing the sea good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.the title of my speech today is crossing the sea.an english poet by the name of rudyard kipling once wrote in his poem we and they: all the people like us are we and everyone else is they we live over the sea while they live over the way we eat pork and beef with cowhorn-handled knives they who gobble their rice off a leaf are horrified out of their lives.when these lines first caught my eyes, i was shocked-how could two peoples remain so isolated and ignorant of each other in the past? todays society, of course, is an entirely different picture.those people who used to eat with cowhorn-handled knives might be very skillful in using chopsticks, and those people who used to gobble their rice might be as well have taken to fish and chips.indeed, just take china as an example: our modern life has been influenced by western style of living in so many ways that its no longer surprising to see teenagers going crazy about rock-and-roll, whole families dining out at mcdonalds and even rather elderly people dressed in apple jeans.however, these are only some expressions of the cultural changes taking place in our society today.what is really going on is a subtle but significant restructuring of the nations mentality.just look around.it is therefore evident that we as descendants of an ancient eastern civilization are already living under strong inf1uence of the western culture.but it is not only in china that we find the incorporation of the two cultures.take the chinese acupuncture as another example: this traditional treatment of diseases is finally finding its way to the west and hence the underlying notion that illness is resulted from the imbalance between yin and yang within the body--an idea which would strike any westerner as incredible in the past!ladies and gentlemen, we live in a great epoch when the global integration of economy and the information revolution have brought cultures of the world closer than ever before.we live in a particular era when countries, east and west, find themselves in need of readjusting their traditional values.we live, at the same time, at a critical juncture of our evolution because such problems as ethnic conflicts and regional unrest are increasingly posing a threat to the peace and happiness of the whole human race.to cope with such an era and to embrace an even brighter therefore, it is our sacred responsibility to promote the cultural exchanges and hence the mutual understanding between china and the rest of the world.it is my happiest dream that the new generation of chinese will not only grow up drinking coca-cola and watching hollywood, but also be blessed with the far-reaching benefits of multiple cultures;benefits that our forefathers had never, ever dreamed of.to end my speech, i would like to quote rudyard kipling again: all the people like us are we and everyone else is they but once you cross over the sea you will end by looking on we as only a sort of they thank you.
