the new year holiday should be longer however, the new year holiday is too short for the working people, according to the regulations of the state, there are only 7 days federal holidays for the working people.several years later, all of us should participate in work, so this problem is closely related to each of us.firstly, do the words spring festival reminds you of something which happen every year, and it is too crowded and makes people exhausted? i think some of you can get the answer.it is the spring transportation.going home for spring festival is a traditional custom of chinese people, but millions of peoples travels bring a great pressure on traffic, especially in such a short time.7 days holiday, 4 days on the way.but the resources of the tickets are very limited, so the people who can buy the tickets are well off, others who are not lucky enough to get the ticket quickly should spend the new year in a strange land.secondly, in fact, short vacation of the spring festival has brought a lot of serious problems.when the official announced the plan of the new year holiday, xinlang, a famous media did a survey on the satisfaction degree of it, more than 70 % of the people are dissatisfied with the plan.most of them wanted more time for relaxed, or they would have less passion for their work in the next year.a netizen called teemo said he always felt angry when every year he said goodbye to his family and came back to work.so, we can expect, if the new year holiday can be longer for the working people, maybe it will make the reunion of families more convenient and let people celebrate the spring festival with a good mood.also, the problems we mentioned above could be solved.thank you!篇二:英語演講春節(jié) the spring festival good afternoon everyone.i’m wu yunfei.today ,i’ll talk about the topic about spring festival.in my opinion ,the spring festival as the most influential traditional festival have important meaning for us.several days before the new year, people begin to prepare.farmers kill pigs, sheep, cocks and hens.city dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables.houses are cleaned; coupletsare(春聯(lián))posted on the doors.colorful lanterns are hung at the gate.all family members will get together on new year eve to have a big meal.during which people do not work except for the workers on duty.students do not go to school, and shops are closed.at the same time ,everyone celebrates to each other.when people meet on the way, they say to each other happy new year..at about 12 oclock, some parents and children light crackers.the whole sky is lighted brightly.we may watch the fireworks excitedly.how busy it is!on the first earlymorning of one year, friends and relatives pay new year calls and gives presents to each other.at that time, children are the happiest because they can get many red packets form their parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and so on.

I.discussion of The Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival
In China, there are a number of old traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Qingming(Pure Brightness), Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. The dates of these festivals are determined by the lunar calendar. Many minority nationalities also celebrate other festivals with their ethnic characteristics. The Spring Festival
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year, is the most important national holiday. It always falls on the date which marks the beginning of the spring, according to the lunar calendar. The celebration of the Spring Festival starts from the New Year’s Eve and ends on the 15th of the first month determined by the lunar calendar. To the Chinese the holiday is as important as Christmas in the West.By tradition, Chinese people will be busy buying presents, decorating their houses, preparing food and making new clothes for the New Year. All transportation, in particular the railway, will be busy taking Chinese back to their home town for a family reunion.Preparations for the New Year begin the last few days of the last moon, when houses are thoroughly cleaned, debts repaid, hair cut and new clothes purchased. And in many homes, people burn incense at home and in the temples to pay respects to ancestors and ask the gods for good health in the coming months.Days before the New Year, all families thoroughly clean their houses hoping to sweep away all the ill-fortune and make way for good luck.People repaint their doors and windowpanes in red colour, which means good luck. They decorate the doors and windows with paper-cuts and couplets which usually show very popular themes such as “happiness”, “wealth”, “l(fā)ongevity”and “satisfactory marriage with more children”.Paintings of the similar themes are also put up in the house. The New Year’s Eve is very carefully observed. All family members sit together having a feast. One of the most popular courses in the north is jiaozi, or dumplings and southerners favor a sticky sweet glutinous rice pudding called nian gao.In the old days, various kinds of delicious food were presented as tributes to the ancestors. After dinner, most people will sit up watching Spring Festival Gala Evening, special programs of Spring Festival staged by CCTV.Light is kept on the whole night. At midnight, there are usually fireworks lighting up the sky and fire-crackers which serve to drive away the evil spirits and to greet the arrival of the new year.Getting up very early in the next morning, children will greet their parents, saying “guo nian hao”, which is the Chinese version of “Happy New Year”.The term “guo nian” means passing or surviving the year. After their greetings, children usually receive money wrapped with red paper as a gift. The neighbors will also pass greeting from door to door. The air is permeated with warmth and friendliness. It is a great time for reconciliation. In the following days before the Lantern Festival, people will visit their relatives and friends and exchange gifts. The Lantern Festival
The Lantern Festival is an occasion of lantern show and folk dance. One of the typical food for the occasion is yuanxiao, sweet dumplings made of glutinous rice
flour and stuffed with fillings. Each year, there is an exhibition of coloured lanterns at night.Every family hangs red lanterns over their gates.Children carry all kinds of coloured laterns and in streets and squares, coloured lantern sheds are built for lantern exhibition.Willow trees are also decorated with coloured paper.Red lanterns are hung here and there on willow trees. The trees are called lantern trees or spark trees.Everyone goes out to see the lanterns and guess the riddles on the lanterns. The Lantern Festival marks the end of the New Year season.Customs of observing the Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival vary from place to place across the country, considering China is a large country, both demographically and ethnically. However, the spirit underlying the diverse celebrations is the same: a sincere wish of peace and happiness for the family members and friends.Notes
