從古自今，世界上的動物種類非常多，但絕種的動物也不計其數。根據生物學家估計，經幾千年來，被人類殺害導致絕種的動物，至少有數百種以上。如此一來，世界上的動物就會越來越少了，如果我們在不及時挽救的話，那么將來世界上的動物，可能就只剩下人類了。

大自然是悠久的，富饒的，它擁有的野生動物，是留給人類的無價之寶，如何安撫飽受欺凌的野生動物，就是我們保護動物的基本觀念。對動物而言，濫殺是最可怕的行為，然而他們所面對的大敵———獵人，卻為了滿足自己的口福之欲，或是為了換取錢財，而對他們大肆捕殺。估計在過去的五年之內，有兩萬只東非的貓科動物被捕殺。每制成一件薄皮大衣就需要十二張動物的毛皮，這些毛皮大衣真是供不應求，價格也非常昂貴。因此必須嚴禁盜獵者濫殺，違者可以用罰款和判刑來處置。我們身邊也有不少虐待動物的例子；班上有些同學會掏鳥窩、殺青蛙，還把小蛇帶到學校，嚇得一些女生一邊尖叫一邊用手捂著臉。還有些男生把小蛇殺死后用繩子扣住它尾巴到處嚇人。

在動物園里，有些人會經常喂動物吃東西，有些動物不知道怎么吃，往往連塑料袋也了下去，這樣一來，再多的動物也會被這種舉動折磨死。飼養員們應該多教些喂養知識。這也是愛護動物的有效辦法之一。總之，現在我們必須積極保護動物，以免再有動物絕種。試想；如果我們的子孫不能見到大自然的寶貴珍品，那將會是多么遺憾哪！所以保護動物的政策要堅決實施，使野生動物不再滅絕，甚至培植一些新的種類，使我們的子孫也能在觀看動物時，享受到我們曾有過的樂趣。
