序：

1992年當(dāng)珊文·鈴木（加拿大人）12歲時(shí)，她自己和其他4個(gè)小女孩籌錢(qián)到巴西的里約熱內(nèi)盧還組成了“兒童環(huán)境組織”，在聯(lián)合國(guó)的地球峰會(huì)上，她做了6分鐘的發(fā)言。

一開(kāi)始大家覺(jué)得這只是漫長(zhǎng)會(huì)議中的另一場(chǎng)發(fā)言而已，隨著她大聲說(shuō)出的每一句話，會(huì)場(chǎng)開(kāi)始變得非常安靜。坐在聽(tīng)眾席上的高官、重要人物、各國(guó)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、科學(xué)家們，有的表情尷尬，有的似乎被什么擊中，有的開(kāi)始擦眼淚。還有更多的人，他們低下了頭，好象不知道該怎么和這個(gè)小孩對(duì)視。

一年后，她在中國(guó)北京獲得聯(lián)合國(guó)環(huán)境規(guī)劃署頒發(fā)的“全球五百精英榮譽(yù)獎(jiǎng)”（Global 500 Roll of Honor Award）。

2002年她主持?jǐn)?shù)個(gè)電視節(jié)目，其中包括在探索頻道（Discovery Channel）播出的“鈴木自然探索節(jié)目”（Suzuki’s Nature Quest）。她和朋友于2002年在約翰內(nèi)斯堡的聯(lián)合國(guó)世界高峰會(huì)議上，發(fā)表“承擔(dān)責(zé)任”（Recognition of Responsibility）的誓言，表達(dá)北美人民關(guān)懷環(huán)境的心聲。演講稿原文：

在這里，您可能是您政府商業(yè)人士的代表、組織者、記者或政客。但您們也是父親和母親、兄弟和姐妹、阿姨和叔叔，你們都會(huì)或多或少的為了下一代而活著。

大聲說(shuō)出的每一句話，會(huì)場(chǎng)開(kāi)始變得非常安靜。坐在聽(tīng)眾席上的高官、重要人物、各國(guó)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)、科學(xué)家們，有的表情尷尬，有的似乎被什么擊中，有的開(kāi)始擦眼淚。還有更多的人，他們低下了頭，好象不知道該怎么和這個(gè)小孩對(duì)視。這是她說(shuō)的話：

Hello，我是珊文·鈴木，代表E.C.O.——關(guān)注環(huán)保兒童組織。我們是幾個(gè)十二三歲的加拿大小孩：Vanessa，Morgan, Michelle和我。我們自己籌錢(qián)，旅行了五千里來(lái)這兒告訴你們大人，你們必須改變。我今天來(lái)這兒，沒(méi)有什么隱藏的理由。我是在為我的未來(lái)抗?fàn)帯?/p>

我曾經(jīng)和爸爸一起在溫哥華釣魚(yú)，直到幾年前我們發(fā)現(xiàn)魚(yú)都得了癌癥。現(xiàn)在每天我們都能聽(tīng)到動(dòng)物和植物滅絕的消息——它們?cè)僖不夭粊?lái)了。

在我的生命里，我夢(mèng)想著看見(jiàn)大群的野生動(dòng)物，看見(jiàn)到處是鳥(niǎo)和蝴蝶的熱帶叢林，但是現(xiàn)在我不知道我的孩子還能不能看到它們存在。

你們象我這么大的時(shí)候也需要擔(dān)心這些事情嗎？

這些都在我們的眼前發(fā)生，可是我們卻假裝我們有無(wú)窮無(wú)盡的時(shí)間和辦法去解決問(wèn)題。我只是個(gè)小孩，我沒(méi)有解決這些問(wèn)題的答案，但是我想要你們知道，你們也沒(méi)有！

你們沒(méi)有辦法修補(bǔ)臭氧層的破洞。你們不能讓三文魚(yú)回到已經(jīng)干涸的河流，你們沒(méi)有辦法讓滅絕的動(dòng)物重新出現(xiàn)，你們也無(wú)法讓已經(jīng)變成沙漠的地方重新成為森林。

如果你們沒(méi)有辦法去修補(bǔ)，就請(qǐng)不要再去破壞！

在這里，你們也許是政府的代表、商業(yè)人士、組織者、記者或者政治家，但你們也是父親和母親，兄弟和姐妹，叔叔和阿姨——而且，你們所有人都是你們父母的小孩。

我只是一個(gè)小孩，可是我卻知道我們都是一個(gè)大家庭的成員，這個(gè)家庭有五十億人，三千萬(wàn)個(gè)物種，我們共享著同樣的空氣、水和土壤。國(guó)界和政府永遠(yuǎn)也改變不了這個(gè)事實(shí)我只是一個(gè)小孩，可是我卻知道我們是一個(gè)整體，應(yīng)該為了同樣的目標(biāo)一起努力。我很生氣，但我不盲目。我很害怕，但我不怕把我的感覺(jué)告訴全世界。

在我的國(guó)家，我們浪費(fèi)太多，我們買(mǎi)了又扔掉，買(mǎi)了又扔掉，卻不肯分享給需要的人。甚至當(dāng)我們擁有的已經(jīng)太多的時(shí)候，我們還是怕會(huì)失去財(cái)富，不愿與人分享。

我只是一個(gè)小孩，可是我卻知道如果所有花在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)上的錢(qián)都被用來(lái)終止貧窮、找尋環(huán)境問(wèn)題的答案，這個(gè)地球會(huì)變成多美好的地方！

在學(xué)校，甚至是在幼兒園，你們就教我們要做個(gè)乖孩子。你們教我們不要打架，要謙讓，要尊重別人，要清理弄臟的地方，不要傷害

動(dòng)物，要分享，不要自私。

那你們?yōu)槭裁磪s在做著不讓我們做的事？不要忘了你們?yōu)槭裁磥?lái)參加這些會(huì)議，為誰(shuí)來(lái)參加——我們是你們的孩子。你們?cè)跊Q定著我們?cè)谑裁礃拥氖澜缋锍砷L(zhǎng)。父母在安慰孩子的時(shí)候應(yīng)該能說(shuō)”一切都會(huì)好的“，”我們正在盡力“和”這不是世界末日“。但是我想你們?cè)僖舱f(shuō)不出這些話了。你們真的還把我們放在頭等重要的位置嗎？我爸爸總是說(shuō)：”你所做的才代表了你，而不是你所說(shuō)的。"

Do not forget why you're attending these conferences, who you're doing this for--we are your own children.You are deciding what kind of world we will grow up in.Parents should be able to comfort their children by saying “everyting's going to be alright” , “we're doing the best we can” and “it's not the end of the world”.But I don't think you can say that to us anymore.Are we even on your list of priorities? My father always says “You are what you do, not what you say.”
