1.that從句 a.陳述型: That we need more preactice is quite clear.(主語從句)It is quite clear that we need more practice.It occurred to me that he had left for Hongkong.The fact is that we have fallen behind them.(表語從句)He believed that he could manage it.(賓語從句)He takes it for granted that she isn’t going to school on Children’s Day.(it作先行詞)I felt it a pity that she missed the lecture.He asked me to give you a message that he couldn’t attend your bithday party.(同位語從句)b.意向型: She suggests that he(should)start at once.(賓語從句)It is necessary that we(should)review our lessons once more.(主語從句)His order is that everyone leave the building at once.(表語從句)His suggestion is that we should stay calm.He give the order that everyone leave the building at once.(同位語從句)c.情感型: It is strange that he should sell(have sold)his new car.(主語從句)I found it unbelievable that he should have left without saying “good-bye”.(賓語從句)The unexpected thing is that the old man should refuse such kind help.(表語從句)We have just got the news that he should marry a woman twenty years older than he.(同位語從句)2.whether/if從句: I don’t know whether/if it is true.下列4種情況, 用whether,一般不用if: a.與or連用: I don’t know whether they will come today or tomorrow.I don’t care whether or not he ttends the meeting.I don’t cre whether/if he attends the meeting or not.(偶爾用,但if和not必須分隔)b.引導主語從句: It is not clear whether they will come.c.在句首: Whether they will come nobody can tell.d.充當介詞賓語: Our success depends on whether he will help us.3.wh-從句: a.疑問型: Do you know when he will come? Do you know why he won’t come? He asked me where I lived.I asked her how much money she wanted.Nobody can tell what is his telephone number.I don’t know who he is.I want to know whom he has gone with.b.名詞型: This is what he told me.What he wants is a new bike.She led me to where she lived.Have you been to where he lives? Your book is where you left is.That is where we differ.A strange thing happened to me in my childhood.It was when I was ten.Autumn is when the farmers harvest.That’s why he was late for school.That’s how I learn English.That is whom she is working for.That is whom he makes friends with.起形容詞作用: He has finished what exercised the teacher told him to do.I’ll give you what help I can.(=as much as)The begger eats what food he can beg.4.wh-ever型: 起名詞作用: He believes whatever his teacher says.Whatever we talked about here must be kept secret.He always gives help to whoever needs it.Whoever comes home first cooks the meal.These are my books.You can borrow whichever you like.起形容詞作用: You may take whatever course you like.You can take whichever seat you like.I want to employ whosever English is good.
